1. Our Privacy Philosophy
HousePulse is designed as a local-first application. This means that, by default, your primary home asset records stay where they belong: on your device. We use cloud services only for essential features like authentication, secure data backup (via Supabase), and intelligent processing.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
We collect minimal and purposeful information to provide you with the best asset management experience:
- Account Information: When you sign in using Google, Apple, or Email, we collect your email address and profile name to manage your account and secure your data.
- Asset Records: Information you enter about your home appliances, furniture, and assets (names, purchase dates, warranty info, logs) is stored in a secure database. This data is synced to your private account on Supabase to ensure you don’t lose information if you switch devices.
- Images and Documents: Photos of receipts, asset tags, or maintenance records are stored to provide a visual record of your home inventory.
- AI-Processed Content: When you use our “Smart Scan” features, images or text snippets are sent to Google’s Gemini API for temporary processing (e.g., to extract data from a receipt). This data is processed temporarily and is not used to build a personal profile.
3. Device Permissions
To function effectively, HousePulse requires the following permissions:
- Camera: Used to scan asset tags, barcodes, and capture photos of receipts or appliances.
- Photo Library: Used to attach existing images from your gallery to your asset records and maintenance logs.
- Notifications: Used to deliver maintenance reminders, warranty expiration alerts, and app updates.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Encryption: Sensitive configuration data is stored using Expo SecureStore, which utilizes platform-specific encryption (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android).
- Database: We use a combination of SQLite (local) and Supabase (cloud) to manage your information securely.
- Payments: We use RevenueCat and Google Play Billing to manage premium subscriptions. We do not store or process your credit card information; all financial transactions are handled securely by the Google Play Store.
5. Third-Party Services
HousePulse integrates with the following trusted services to provide its functionality:
- Google Gemini (AI): For intelligent scanning and analysis.
- Supabase: For secure authentication and data synchronization.
- RevenueCat: For subscription management and verification.
- Google Sign-In / Apple Authentication: For secure and easy account access.
We do not sell or share your personal data with any third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
6. Children’s Privacy
HousePulse does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the app and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top.
